Moments Of Pleasure : The Music Of Kate Bush

Lisa-Marie Walters

Vocals

Hi,

I'm Lisa-Marie and I have the wonderful, if incredibly daunting job of being the lead vocalist for MOP and singing Kate's amazing songs to a live audience! And, my goodness, what a challenge it is! I relish every moment of doing my absolute best to nail Kate's extraordinary vocal acrobatics and changes in style and genre across her incredible 40-year career!

It is equally important, for me to try and emulate the iconic theatricality of Kate's live performance, with a deep respect and huge love of the original material and the artist herself, authenticity is paramount!

As a massive fan, I feel a deep, personal connection to Kate's music and more specifically to her deeply emotive lyrics and her one of a kind storytelling! Performing to Kate Bush fans with MOP is an absolute dream come true!

Andy Allpass

Keyboards and Backing Vocals

Keyboard maestro Andy has had a rich and varied musical career ranging from roles as Musical Director in many musical theatre productions to touring in a band across Europe.

As an MD he has directed shows as diverse as Gershwin’s Crazy For You to The Wedding Singer and also has a history of musical direction in pantomime. This includes eight years at Bristol Old Vic, six years at Salisbury Playhouse, and ten years at The Roses Theatre, Tewkesbury, some of which he composed the music for. Anyone who has seen Andy perform with MOP will know Andy finds it hard to leave his pantomime days behind him!

He also currently showcases his considerable keyboard skills in blues band The Alex Voysey Band alongside MOP drummer Paul.

Andy has been a huge fan of Kate Bush since her debut single Wuthering Heights was released and, much to the envy of the rest of the band, was privileged enough to see Kate perform live on The Tour Of Life at Bristol Hippodrome in 1979.

Marcus Thurston

Guitar

I’ve been a professional musician for many years, having played in various signed bands. I have also worked as a live session player, including extensive touring around the world with Iron Maiden’s original singer Paul Dianno.

I currently also play with my own band, Vega, who have released eight albums and perform internationally.

Although for most of my career I have played with rock and metal acts, I really enjoy the huge variety and incredible song writing of Kate Bush. It’s challenging music to play which makes it a fantastic experience.

I love being part of such an amazing band whose attention to detail is so impressive. Playing for audiences who know and love Kate’s music so intimately is an extremely rewarding experience.

Mark Brown

Bass Guitar

Playing the basslines of the music of Kate is without doubt one of the toughest challenges of my career to date. Our current repertoire covers tracks from all of Kate’s albums and that it transcends any one single genre or style is what makes her music so engaging to play – every gig is both a challenge and a musical treat!

Over the last 5 years Moments of Pleasure has grown so quickly and it’s been fantastic to be part of this band from day one. We have travelled up and down the UK and played to some fantastic audiences and met some wonderful people. Playing Running Up That Hill at Festwich Festival when Kate was number 1 in the charts was a stand out moment for me as I have never played to such a large crowd before that went so crazy! Recording at Abbey Road comes a very close second to that.

I’m looking forward to our first international gigs this year and taking our loving tribute to Kate to as many people as we possibly can.

Drums, Mandolin and Backing Vocals

The first Kate Bush song I remember hearing was Babooshka and, placing that in time, it would have made me seven years old. I have been captivated by her music ever since.

I've been a professional musician for most of my adult life. I have worked with various tribute shows and function bands as well as playing for original artists and various jazz groups over the years. I also play with Andy in The Alex Voysey Band and with my wife Diane, who some of you may have seen guesting with MOP on The Saxophone Song, in our jazz group Cygnet Quartet. I am also a record producer and have produced numerous albums, some of which I have played on.

When I was asked to join MOP I was overjoyed to have the opportunity to perform Kate's music with such wonderful musicians. At every show I am in awe of Lisa with her unbelievably accurate vocal performances. It's a thrill to share this music with audiences that love it as much as we do and to get such wonderful reactions night after night.
